Every house gets scrubbed before Diwali. Very few get looked at. If your home has felt heavy all year, the cleaning will not touch it, and this is the right month to deal with the part that a broom cannot reach.
This Diwali, do not only clean the house physically. A spiritual cleaning is needed too, so that Lakshmi comes into your home and stays. Scrubbing the floor moves the dust. It does not move what has settled in the walls over a year of arguments, illness and worry. That is the part people feel and cannot name, and it is the part that keeps a house from holding on to what comes into it.
Why This Month and Not Another
Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November, with Dhanteras on the Friday before it. The whole practice of cleaning the house before Lakshmi Puja is older than any of us and it was never only about dust. The idea behind it is that nothing new settles in a space that is already full, so the house gets emptied first and whatever you are inviting in has somewhere to go. Cleaning the house is only half of it. The other half is healing the energy, and that is the half most families skip.
So the fortnight before Diwali is when most people are already moving things, opening windows and throwing out what has sat unused for a year. If a home needs energy work, this is the easiest time to do it, because the physical work is happening anyway.
Signs the Heaviness Is Not Dust
A house with an energy problem behaves in ways people usually blame on themselves.
- Arguments start over nothing, and mostly in one room
- Guests do not stay long and nobody can say why
- Sleep is broken in that house and fine when you travel
- Money arrives and goes out the same week, year after year
- Someone in the family is always unwell, with reports that keep coming back normal
- Plants die in a spot where they should be fine
- The air feels thick when you walk in, even after the windows have been open all day
Any one of those could be a bad week and nothing more. When most of them have been true for months, the house is carrying something.
Nine Things Worth Doing Before Diwali
These cost nothing and they are worth doing whether or not anything else is wrong. There is a longer version of each in the post on how to remove negative energy from your home.
- Throw out what is broken. Cracked glass, dead clocks, chipped plates, torn clothes. Broken things hold stuck energy and Diwali cleaning is the socially acceptable moment to let them go.
- Salt water in the corners. A bowl of rock salt in water in each corner of a heavy room, thrown out after a day. Replace it for three days.
- Camphor, every evening. Light it at dusk and walk it through every room including the bathrooms. Most people skip the bathrooms.
- Open everything in the morning. Windows and curtains, before ten, for at least an hour. Most homes that feel stale have simply not had direct sun in months.
- Clean under and behind. Under the bed, behind the almirah, the back of the top shelf. These are the places that get missed every year and they are where things settle.
- Sound in every room. A bell, a shankh, or a mantra played aloud with the doors open. Carry it room to room instead of leaving it playing in one place.
- Deal with the store room. The room everybody has stopped opening is almost always the heaviest room in the house.
- Wash the entrance. The doorway and the steps, with salt water, the morning of Diwali.
- Finish with light. Diyas in the dark corners rather than only along the balcony, which is the part everybody does for the neighbours.
Do the simple things first. A fair number of homes that feel heavy need airing, sunlight and a cleared store room, nothing more. Try the list above for a week before paying anybody, including this practice.
When Cleaning Is Not Enough
There is a point where the list stops helping. You can tell because the heaviness comes back within days of a thorough clean, and because it follows the people rather than the rooms. The same family argues in a new house. Money behaves the same way after a move. One person stays unwell wherever they are.
When that is the pattern, what is sitting in the house is attached to the people in it, not to the walls. It might be something somebody sent, or something picked up in a crowd or a hospital, or years of worry that never got anywhere. None of it lives in the walls, so no amount of cleaning reaches it.
That is where healing comes in. Lama Fera is Buddhist energy healing from the Himalayas and it works by taking heavy energy out rather than adding gentle energy on top. The method is explained on the Lama Fera healing page, and the signs are set out in the post on black magic and evil eye.
What to Expect, Honestly
Nothing is guaranteed. A healing will not hand you a prosperous year because it was done before Diwali, and the timing carries no extra power of its own. The energy works on the person who asks for it, and how fast it moves depends on their own energy level, how much has built up and how much negativity is still around them. Some people feel lighter the same day. Most notice it in a day or two, usually in their sleep first. Some take longer. Results come slowly and build.
It also will not control anybody, it will not predict markets, and it is not medical treatment. You can take healing along with your treatment, and many clients do, and it supports faster and better recovery. But healing supports medical care. It does not replace it.
Vastu Healing for the House Itself
When the heaviness belongs to the house rather than to one person living in it, the healing is done on the property. Vastu healing works on the energy of the space. Nothing is broken, no wall comes down and no kitchen gets shifted. Most vastu faults people are warned about would cost lakhs to put right by construction, and plenty of families simply cannot do that. This works on the energy behind those faults instead.
Three things are needed before it starts. The naksha of the house, and a photo of the plan on paper is enough for that. The full address. And the name of the person the house is owned by.
You do not have to be at home for it, or even free. It is done at a distance at a fixed time. You are told before it begins and told again once it is finished, and your day carries on in between.
A single vastu healing is ₹3,495. Where a house has been like this for years the twenty one day vastu healing is ₹44,999, done every day for three weeks so the correction settles instead of lifting for a few days and coming back. The reasoning behind the longer programme is in the post on why twenty one days works better than one, and every price is listed on the healing services page.
Describe What the House Has Been Doing
Message on WhatsApp before Diwali and you will get an honest answer about whether this needs vastu healing or just a good clear out. If it is the second one, you will be told that.
Common Questions
Is there a right day to heal a home before Diwali?
No day carries extra power. People often choose the days between Dhanteras and Diwali because the house is already being emptied and it fits the rhythm of the week. Any day works as well as any other.
What do you need from me for vastu healing?
The naksha of the house, which is the blueprint, and a photo of it on paper is fine. The full address. And the name of the person who owns the house. Nothing else is needed and nothing has to be sent by post.
Do I have to be at home during it?
No. It is distance healing and it is done on the property, so you can be at work or travelling. You are told before it starts and told again when it is done.
Can a rented house be healed?
Yes, and you do not need the landlord involved. The owner’s name is asked for because the property is registered to them, not because they have to agree to anything or be told.
We already do puja at home. Is this different?
Yes, and it does not replace anything. Puja is worship and it is yours to keep doing. Lama Fera is energy work on a person’s field, performed by a healer at a fixed time. The two sit alongside each other without conflict.
How soon would we notice a change in the house?
It varies from house to house and from person to person. Sleep is usually the first thing to shift, within a day or two for most people. The feel of the house itself takes longer, and where something has been in place for years, five sessions lift the weight without finishing the job.
Does anybody come to the house?
No. Nobody visits and there is no inspection. The whole thing is done at a distance from the naksha and the address, which is why it can be booked from any city.
